WILLIAMSON CO., IL – One teen died, and three others were seriously hurt Monday in a solo accident in central Williamson County.
The incident happened at 6:38 a.m. on Cochran Road near the city of Marion.
Police say that for unknown reasons, the 16-year-old driver of an eastbound Hyundai Elantra left Cochran Road and crashed into a tree. The driver, who was a student at Johnston High School, died at the scene of the accident.
Medics transported three other teens, including a 13-year-old, a 16-year-old, and a 17-year-old, to the hospital with critical injuries.
Authorities say the teens were riding in a stolen vehicle.
