ROCK FALLS, IL – A 41-year-old man died Wednesday after a crash involving a semi and a farm tractor along a rural highway in east-central Whiteside County.
The incident occurred at 9:22 a.m. at the intersection of IL-172 and IL-40, which is just east of Sauk Valley Turf Farms.
Police say that the driver of an 18-wheeler caused the accident while attempting to pass the tractor near the intersection.
The driver of the farm tractor, identified as Matthew Miller, died at the scene.
The 39-year-old driver of the semi went to the hospital with minor injuries. Police cited him for illegal passing in close proximity to an intersection.
The investigation is ongoing.
