One dead, one injured in car versus bus crash in Winnebago County

WINNEBAGO COUNTY, IL – A crash involving a bus and a car left a 20-year-old man dead Monday near Winnebago. 

The collision occurred on the eastbound lanes of U.S. Route 20 around 7 am, WIFR revealed. 

A driver of a gray 2014 Chevrolet Cruze failed to stop for the bus’ flashing lights and ended up hitting the rear of the bus. 

The bus driver was unharmed. 

The driver of the Chevrolet, a 17-year-old teenager, was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.  

The front seat passenger from the Chevrolet succumbed to his injuries and died.
