Narrative
KANKAKEE CO., IL – A major crash involving two vehicles along IL-50 near Peotone killed a woman and her 9-year-old granddaughter on Thursday.
The incident happened around 12:48 p.m. at the intersection with West 12000 North Road, which is about five miles north of Manteno.
Police say that the driver of a 2017 Honda Civic neglected a stop sign at the intersection and entered the path of a 2018 Ford F-150 pickup truck. The two vehicles collided, killing the driver of the Honda at the scene.
Authorities identified the victim as 53-year-old Lisa M. Dome.
Dome’s granddaughter was a passenger in the Honda at the time of the crash and sustained fatal injuries. She died after transport to a local hospital.
The driver of the Ford sustained non-critical injuries. It is unclear if they required hospitalization.
