NEAR ASHLAND, IL – An SUV driver lost her life after crashing into a truck head-on on Illinois Route 125 East before 7:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Illinois State Police told WAND-TV that the collision happened when the SUV driver, later identified as 48-year-old Crystal Shanks, went east on the highway and went into the westbound lane to pass a vehicle in a no-pass zone, leading her to hit the truck head-on.
First responders did take the truck driver to a hospital for treatment of unspecified wounds.
A second collision also happened at this exact location. However, the individuals involved in that crash were unharmed.
