Narrative
JOLIET, IL – Three children were injured and their parents were killed in a wrong-way collision on I-55 near Joliet around 10:30 p.m. Tuesday. For reasons unknown, a driver of a pickup truck crashed head-on into the family SUV, and then a semi-truck driver collided with the SUV. As a result, the parents of the SUV – Ron and Kelly Dube of Emigton – suffered fatal injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene. The children, the youngest being 2 years old, were transported to Lurie Children’s Hospital for broken bones and cuts. The pickup truck driver was hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries. The pickup truck driver was not charged. It is unclear if impairment played a role in this collision.
