Narrative
A teenage boy’s life was claimed in a three-vehicle collision on Somonauk Road near Sandwich after 6 p.m. on Monday, March 20th. The DeKalb County Sheriff’s Office said the driver of Traffic Unit 1, 24-year-old Cameron Palleson, was waiting to turn left into a private driveway. At the same time, the driver of Traffic Unit 2, an unidentified teenage boy, crossed over the center line and came into the southbound lane. The driver of traffic Unit 2 then struck the back of the Traffic Unit 1 automobile. The vehicle of Traffic Unit 2 drifted off the road and drove into a ditch before flipping over and crashing into the car of Traffic Unit 3. The driver of Traffic Unit 3, 22-year-old David Elrod, was taken to two different hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries. Palleson sustained minor injuries and refused medical treatment at the scene. The driver of Traffic Unit 2, the unnamed teenage boy, succumbed to fatal injuries.
