Narrative

One person was killed in a crash on I-55 at Harlem Avenue in Chicago before 3:30 a.m. on Sunday, Jan. 1st. Illinois State Police said for reasons unknown, the driver of Traffic Unit 1 lost control of the vehicle, and it rolled over, causing a passenger, a 12-year-old girl, to be thrown from the car. It is unclear if the driver was hurt. The child was identified as Jennifer Lopez from Gage Park. Lopez was taken to a hospital, where she succumbed to fatal injuries.
