Narrative
One died following a head-on crash on Route 76 in Belvidere around 7:30 a.m. Saturday. The driver of Traffic Unit 1 was heading north when for reasons unknown, he or she went over into the southbound lanes and crashed head-on with the driver of Traffic Unit 2, according to the Boone County Sheriff’s Office. The driver of Traffic Unit 1 was unharmed, and it is unclear if he or she was impaired. The driver of Traffic Unit 2 was taken to a hospital, where he succumbed to fatal injuries.
