Narrative
LA GRANGE, IL – A multi-vehicle collision in central Fayette County killed two people and injured three others Friday night.
The accident happened shortly before 2 p.m. at 47th Street and Willow Springs Road, which is just north of Lyons Township High School South Campus in La Grange.
Police haven’t disclosed any details about the crash except to say that it involved seven vehicles and eight people. Photos taken at the scene depict a gray sedan with significant damage, a white SUV, a white sedan, and a black hatchback. It’s not yet clear what caused the wreck.
Authorities identified the two victims as 51-year-old Brett Lane and 49-year-old Melissa Ann Lane.
Medics transported three additional people to an area hospital with undisclosed injuries.
Three people were uninjured in the accident.
Officials closed the intersection while emergency teams helped the victims and worked to clear the scene.
A full investigation is underway.
