Illinois State Police identify two people killed in crash near Hamel

MADISON COUNTY, IL – As of Friday, Illinois State Police identified the two people who died in Wednesday’s crash near Hamel. 

KSDK said Sheila Macon, 73, of Greenville, and her granddaughter Ciara Renee Macon, 17, of Alton, were the ones who passed away after a tractor-trailer crashed into them. 

Macon and Alton were pronounced dead at the scene. 

The truck driver was charged for not stopping at the stop sign. He refused medical attention.
